This south section of the Endeavour Hydrothermal Vents includes two moorings to monitor the regional circulation. This device is a Current Meter. Acoustic Current Meters (ACM) measure current speed and direction, using the Doppler Effect. Aquadopp current meters have a sensor head that contains 3 acoustic transducers, a tilt sensor, a temperature sensor and a pressure sensor. The instrument transmits a short pulse of sound, and then listens to its echo to measure the change in pitch or frequency. The change in pitch can determine the velocity of the current. It was deployed on a fixed platform. Data from this deployment were archived and made available through Ocean Networks Canada's Oceans 3.0 digital infrastructure, with quality assurance and derived data products following established practices.</gco:CharacterString>\n <lan:PT_FreeText>\n <lan:textGroup>\n <lan:LocalisedCharacterString locale=\"fra\">Ce Nortek Aquadopp Current Meter 2809 a été déployé le 2019-09-20 au Endeavour South. It is suitable for use on moorings or fixed structures. It features higher power and an increased signal-to-noise ratio compared with the standard (300 m depth rated) Aquadopp so that it can provide accurate current measurements in water with low concentrations of suspended particulate matter. Current velocity is derived from the Doppler shift measured by two or three 2MHz acoustic beams. It comes with compass, tilt, pressure and temperature sensors. Data are stored on an internal data logger. It can be run in 'diagnostic' mode when set to collect data at 1 Hz frequency in user specified intervals, which allows studies of mooring motion and the performance of other current meters to be conducted.] differs from current metadata record [abstract: English = The Institute of Ocean Sciences Drifter SN 29 was deployed on 2019-09-20 at Endeavour South.
