Ce cours fait partie du programme de Techniques de bioécologie au Cégep de Sherbrooke. Le principal but de cet inventaire est d'initier les étudiants finissants au travail en zone littorale marine. L'échantillonnage leur permet également de planifier les travaux, préparer le matériel de terrain, récolter des échantillons, capturer des organismes et mesurer des paramètres physico-chimiques. De retour au laboratoire, ils identifient les organismes présents dans les échantillons, compilent les résultats et effectuent quelques analyses simples des résultats.\n\nLa campagne d'échantillonnage comprend plusieurs volets : la récolte de macroinvertébrés benthiques triés à partir d'échantillons de sédiments récoltés (endobenthos), l'observation de macroinvertébrés benthiques attachés au substrat dur (épibenthos), la pêche expérimentale à l'aide de verveux et de bourolles, la mesure de la salinité et la température de l'eau ainsi que le calcul du pourcentage de recouvrement des algues.\n\nComme il s'agit de travaux effectués par des personnes en formation, le niveau d'identification des organismes échantillonnés ne peut être aussi précis que le travail effectué par des professionnels dans le domaine. Les travaux terrains sont quand même supervisés par l'enseignant responsable et par un technicien en travaux pratiques. Les résultats de l'analyse en laboratoire sont également validés par l'enseignant responsable avant leur publication.\n\nCes inventaires utilisent un protocole d'échantillonnage qui a peu varié depuis 2012. The aim of this inventory is to introduce finishing students to work in the coastal marine zone. Sampling also allows them to plan work, prepare field equipment, collect samples, capture organisms, and measure physicochemical parameters. Back in the laboratory, they identify the organisms present in the samples, compile the results, and perform a few simple analyses of the results.\\n\\nThe sampling campaign includes several components: the harvesting of benthic macroinvertebrates sorted from collected sediment samples (endobenthos), the observation of benthic macroinvertebrates attached to the hard substrate (epibenthos), experimental fishing using fyke nets and bait traps, the measurement of salinity and water temperature, and the calculation of the percentage of algae cover.\\n\\nAs this is work carried out by people in training, the level of identification of the sampled organizations cannot be as accurate as the work carried out by professionals in the field. The field work is still supervised by the teacher in charge and by a practical work technician.
