Physico-chemical data from the experimental aquaria of the GENORMALG controlled experiment (2024)

As part of the controlled GENORMALG experiment investigating the combined effects of ambient, future (+2.6 °C and –0.3 pH units), and hatchery-like pH/temperature conditions, as well as the presence or absence of macroalgae in the immediate environment of wild- and hatchery-origin juveniles abalone (Haliotis tuberculata), animals were exposed from February 5 to September 13, 2024 to the following experimental treatments: (i) ambient pH/T°C without macroalgae (“Ambient/Algae-free”); (ii) ambient pH/T°C with macroalgae (“Ambient/Algae”); (iii) future pH/T°C without macroalgae (“Future/Algae-free”); (iv) future pH/T°C with macroalgae (“Future/Algae”); and (v) hatchery-like pH/T°C (“Hatchery”). Three data files compile the physico-chemical measurements acquired throughout the experiment: (1) “daily physico-chemical data” includes pH, temperature, salinity, electromotive force (mV), and dissolved oxygen values measured twice daily; (2) “pH-T°C continuous data” includes continuous monitoring of pH and temperature; and (3) “carbonate and nutrient salt chemistry data” includes carbonate system parameters and nutrient concentrations, measured four times during the experiment.
