BOTDR (Brillouin Optical Time Domain Reflectometry) data from submarine telecom cables in Guadeloupe (from 8 roadside field campaigns, June 2022 - March 2025)

BOTDR (Brillouin Optical Time Domain Reflectometry) data data acquired during roadside campaigns in Saint Francois, Capesterre (Belle-Eau) and Saint Louis (Marie Galante) using a Viavi BOTDR interrogator, at roadside junction boxes during 8 field campaigns in June 2022, Dec 2022, June 2023, Nov/Dec 2023, May 2024, Sep 2024, Nov/Dec 2024, Mar 2025. The three data files contain all the data from acquired from each of the three roadside junction box: Saint-François, Saint Louis (Marie Galante), and Capesterre (Belle-Eau) and there is a short readme file. By comparing later measurements to a baseline (established during the first campaign) one can calculate variations in strain (elongation / shortening) or temperature of the optical fibers in the telecom cables at specific locations (every 10 m or so) along the cable. These data have been submitted in a manuscript sent for possible publication to Geophysical Research Letters (submitted in Sept. 2025).
