Benthic video (human based) annotation data from EPIBENGOL 2018 cruise

During the EPIBENGOL 2018 Survey (Vaz, 2018), the bottom contacting video sledge PAGURE (Facq et al., 2023) was deployed in order to acquire benthic videos of the seabed. This video was analysed by benthic experts following a standardised annotation strategy (Vaz et al., 2026) and the different organisms and location of particular features and structures were manually annotated using Biigle (Langenkämper et al., 2017). Based on the classical biigle report and the dive navigation file, a post-processing analysis was then performed to obtain absolute time and spatial location of each observed features and to evaluate their size and their density relative to the total surface analysed during the dive (Vaz et al., 2026, Pedron et al., 2026). The present datasets detail the result of these analyses and provide relevant information for the ecological analyses of these observations. The datasets are organised by dive, providing for each one a directory containing the two original dive files (« FichiersPlongees ») and four files resulting from the video annotations and their post-processing. For the purpose of ecological analyses, the dive date and location may be found in the navigation file, the density of each identified taxon may be found in the « DiveDensity » file, and the position and estimated size of each organism may be found in the « EcologicalExport » file.
