2015 APEM Cumbria Coast MCZ Littoral Rock Baseline Surveys
The main aim of this current study was to acquire 100% intertidal biotope coverage for the rocky shore habitats of the Cumbria Coast MCZ to provide comparison against previous data acquired and enable a preliminary condition assessment. The objectives of the project were:
- To map the extent, distribution and composition of biotopes within the features to High Energy Intertidal Rock BSH and Intertidal Under boulder Communities HOCI
- To map the presence, extent and species composition of representative biotopes:
- LR.MLR.BF.Fser.Bo - Fucus serratus and underboulder fauna on exposed tomoderately exposed lower eulittoral boulders
- IR.MIR.KR.Ldig.Bo - Laminaria digitata and underboulder fauna on sublittoralfringe boulders
- To report any anthropogenic influences impacting on identified features
The survey was conducted from the 27th September 2015 to the 1st October 2015.
