X-band radar data from SUMOS campaign

This data set contains the surface wave spectral observations collected by a dedicated X-band radar (Principal Investigators: J. Horstmann, R. Carrasco, HZH) installed onboard the R/V Atalante during the SUMOS campaign (Principal Investigators: P. Sutherland, LOPS, D. Hauser, LATMOS), which took place in the Bay of Biscay from 2021/02/08 to 2021/03/08.

The radar, mounted on the R/V Atalante masthead, provided observation of high-incidence radar backscatter from the sea surface, from which spatial and temporal surface wave spectra were derived.

This data set comprises 109 netcdf files spanning 12 acquisition days. Each file contains the spectral information derived from 10 minutes of acquisition. The processed time segments cover the ATR-42 flights which took place during the campaign.
