Cockburn Sound Management Council - Long-term Water Quality Sampling for Cockburn Sound (1982/83 to 2011/12)

From December to March, in most years between 1982/83 to 2011/12, the Marine and Freshwater Research Laboratory (MAFRL) at Murdoch University conducted water quality testing in Cockburn Sound, Western Australia for the Cockburn Sound Management Council (CSMC). Data was obtained on nitrogen and phosphorus compounds, salinity, conductivity, pH, suspended sediments, density, turbidity, fluorescence, temperature, dissolved oxygen, chlorophyll and light attenuation.

LicenseParties must understand they need to read and appreciate the limitations or utility of the data for their work including timing of sampling (summer months of year) and that parties need to be aware of the testing methodology and very rigourous QA/QC methods outlined in the Manual of Standard Operating Procedures (see download for full copy). Parties also need to understand the although the data is not static the CSMC does not have the resources to continuously maintain an interactive database or contribute to one and the data available through BlueNet is a snapshot for the benefit of other researchers who fully understand the metadata statements.
