Habitat mapping of cold-water corals on the Angolan margin

The mapping of habitats off Angola was carried out by the Ifremer Deep-Sea Laboratory as part of the Biozaire programme (coordinator Myriam SIBUET).

The method used for this habitat mapping is based on the preliminary analysis of videos and images acquired with the ROV Victor 6000 during the Biozaire1 campaign (from 04/01/2001 to 15/01/2001, mission chief: Myriam SIBUET).

The habitats were described at the finest level of analysis and then classified according to the EUNIS typology (https://www.eea.europa.eu/data-and-maps/data/eunis-habitat-classification-1). The data have been published in: Le Guilloux, E., K. Olu, J. F. Bourillet, B. Savoye, S. P. Iglésias and M. Sibuet (2009). First observations of deep-sea coral reefs along the Angola margin. Deep Sea Research Part II: Topical Studies in Oceanography 56(23): 2394-2403. doi:10.1016/j.dsr2.2009.04.014
