This research investigates how water masses are transformed as they flow through the Caribbean Sea, a region responsible for a quarter of the northern hemisphere's northward ocean heat transport and a vital component of the Atlantic Meridional Overturning Circulation (AMOC). The UVI glider will transit to 18 N 69 W, south of the Dominican Republic, and sample temperature, salinity, dissolved oxygen, and current velocity profiles from the surface to 900m depth southward along 69 W to just north of Curacao (12 24 N) – and return along the same path. The journey is expected to take a little over 3 months and will be repeated during hurricane season 2026. Delayed mode dataset.
