Restoration Prioritization Strategy for the Estuaire-de-la-Rivière-Bonaventure Marine Reserve

The Restoration Prioritization Strategy for the Estuaire-de-la-Rivière-Bonaventure Marine Reserve project, conducted by the Comité ZIP Gaspésie from 2025 to 2026, aims to structure and equip decision-making in order to effectively guide restoration interventions within the marine protected area (MPA). Its realization was made possible thanks to the financial support of the Saint-Laurent Action Fund (FASL), through its Restoration Program in Saint-Laurent MPAs, as well as from the Government of Quebec as part of the Nature Plan.

In 2025, the Comités ZIP Sud-de-l'Estuaire, Saguenay-Charlevoix and Rive Nord de l'Estuaire developed a strategy to prioritize restoration. To apply this approach to the territory of the Estuaire-de-la-Rivière-Bonaventure Marine Reserve, an ecological characterization was carried out during the summer of 2025 in order to collect the data necessary for the assessment of sites and the analysis of restoration options. In this context, the Comité ZIP Gaspésie conducted inventories of eelgrass beds, ichthyological communities and flora, as well as monitoring water quality.

This dataset is the result of this characterization carried out in the summer of 2025.
