Restoration of Coastal Habitats in L'Isle-aux-Grues
During the summer of 2019, the biological and geomorphological characterization of coastal habitats in L'Isle-aux-Grue was carried out in order to determine a potential site for the restoration of fish habitat as part of a project funded by Fisheries and Oceans Canada. In order to limit erosion phenomena and improve the resilience of the environment, a project to vegetate native shrubs (shrub willows) in the upper marsh schorre, associated with the control of a colony of common reeds, was carried out during the summer of 2020. The monitoring of these developments took place until September 2021 and revealed very positive results: significant growth rate of willow cuttings and a great diversity of fish caught.
