Monitoring Invasive Crab Species in the Channel and North Sea
Coastal colonisation by two non-native species of Hemigrapsus: origin, habitat state and interspecific competition in the Channel. North Sea.
We aim to
- conduct an inventory of the presence of both invasive species on the coasts of the Channel/north sea, and
- study competition between native and invasive crab species. This study should provide information both about the factors responsible for the success of the invasive species (competition, type of sites colonised), and about how the affected systems function (food chains, predatory pressures).
